“Contrology (Pilates) is designed to give you suppleness, natural grace and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way you walk, the way you play, and in the way you work.”
-From Return to Life Through Contrology by Joseph Pilates

WHAT IS PILATES?
Originating from a technique created by Joseph H. Pilates more than 70 years ago, Pilates movements are based on proper breathing techniques, which activate core stabilizing muscles, segmental articulation of the spine, organization of the shoulder girdle and ribcage, and proper postural alignment of the spine on lower extremities. The result is a strong, long, lean body that displays notably improved flexibility, balance, coordination and posture.

• Pilates Group - Integrated Mat & Allegro
60 min. Most levels
A total body workout with an emphasis on abdominal Mat work, using small props such as the Pilates ball, foam roller, Magic Circle and Theraband. The Allegro portion comprises stability work through the core against weight resistance, as extremities are challenged. Participants each work on their own apparatus to develop improved balance, coordination, flexibility and muscle tone. A BEGINNER GROUP is also offered for those with no prior Pilates experience. 4-6 pax max, depending on time/day

• Pre-Natal Pilates
60 min. Consult your physician before commencing a new exercise regime during pregnancy.
Pre Natal Pilates classes incorporate a blend of both mat work and Allegro exercises. Modifications for each trimester are given with special focus given to strengthening the lower abdominal region, which supports the growing baby. The careful, controlled motions of Pilates make it an ideal form of exercise during pregnancy. 4-6 pax max, depending on time/day

• Post-Natal Pilates
60 min. Participants should be at least six weeks post-partum and have physician’s approval to begin exercise regime. Participants are required to attend one Private Assessment before entering Post Natal group classes.
Classes incorporate both mat work and Allegro exercises for total body reconditioning. Special attention is paid to the core control muscles of the lower abdominal region and pelvic floor which are strengthened, creating a muscular “corset” to support the spine. 4-6 pax max, depending on time/day

All 60-minute Pilates group classes are $290 per person, drop-in rate. Packages are available.

*Clients who would like to enroll in the post-natal class MUST attend a private assessment prior to the start of the class.
